Ms. Benning's Classroom

Welcome Parents and Students to a new school year!

I'm Ms. Benning and it is my pleasure to be your students' 8th grade English Teacher! We are going to learn lots of important things and go on amazing journeys together. This will not be an easy year, we are going to stretch ourselfs and get outside our comfort zones so that we can grow and develop into better versions of ourselves.

"Working hard is important. But there is something that matters even more; Believing in yourself." - Harry Potter

In addition to working on all things academic, we are going to build our confidence in the classroom in a variety of ways. We will be presented with leadership opportunities in the classroom and we will be working on our Leadership Voices throughout the year. It's one thing for me to believe in you, it's another thing for you to believe in yourself.

Parents: I love when you are involved in your students day here at school. Feel free to email me and check up on your student, ask me how their day is going, how their grades are, etc. Sometimes your student may need help with homework, feel free to help them as best you can. Bond with them and learn together! Model the importance of a good work ethic and it will serve them well the rest of their lives. smiley

Students are all required to bring a book with them to class. Students will always have opportunities to check out books from our classroom, but they can also utilize their local branch of the public library. If you don't know where the closest branch is, I'd love to help you find one!

Lastly, we will always be in need of a few things throughout the year: Lined notebook paper, kleenex, and pencils. Without fail, we run out of pencils before Thanksgiving so there really is no such thing as too many pencils.

I'm so excited to work with all of you this year. Let's make it the best one yet!
